CP-1080. -
This C-46 has been stored in La Paz, cannibalized and apparently
derelict since the mid nineties. Its history is well documented in
contrast to other frames also stored in La Paz. The aircraft carries C.N. 26771, and served with the US Air Force as 42-3638, it was
later sold to C-46 Parts Inc. and registered as N91364. It came
to Bolivia as Fuerza Aérea Boliviana TAM-61 and was retired in
the late seventies. Bought by
La Cumbre as CP-1080, it later went
to Frigorífico Santa Rita as a spares source and later a
cancelled restoration project. In 2006 it was purchased by Líneas
Aéreas Canedo, as it deemed the airframe/engines usable, thus saved
it from destruction; the aircraft however seems a very long way from any
serious attempt at restoring it to flying order.
