CP-1651. - This DC-6B (cn. 44433) started its days as Japan
Air Lines JA6206 “City of Nagoya”, it was bought by
Fri Reyes from the Peruvian carrier Faucett Perú, and it carried the
OB-R-827 registration. While the aircraft was imported
with Peruvian colors at some point its paint was sanded down to an
all-metal surface, perhaps in the lengthy process of being brought to service.

Although DGAC
registration permit #1123 was allocated to this aircraft; even by 1992
no airworthiness
certificate (COA) had been issued and neither a Bolivian weight & balance inspection conducted;
however, there is a very good photo by Peter Garwood (link
)
taken that same year, which suggests airworthiness even at that time.
The same goes for this shot (link
)
by Andy Martin taken in September 1997, complete with a touch of
personality.

Going back to the
platform were this DC-6 rests it seems like little has
changed since Stephen Piercey or the Skytrucks crew came
to Bolivia in the late 70's and mid 80's. This DC-6 still stands in
pretty much the same position, minus all engines. |
