This Convair
C-131B (cn. 249), the last remaining example in Bolivia, once flew with
USAF marks as 53-7797; after a stint as a JC-131B test bed for Goodyear
tires, and with no apparent hop into the N-registry it came to Bolivia
for CAT or Carga Aéreo Transportada.
A few
years later it was leased to
Fri Reyes
(COA: 13OCT92) and then
sold to Servicios Aéreos Santa Ana (SASA), when this company
merged with NACIF it continued to operate cargo flights until the
early 2000s. It went briefly into storage and was then bought by
Eco
Express, which after a long maintenance period started operating
with this aircraft out of La Paz with FOBs in Cochabamba and Santa Cruz.
Currently the plane is parked in El Alto, as this very dedicated company
keeps on working on new plans with old planes. |
