Monuments or
Preserved Aircraft
TAM-16.-
Quite a few
monuments are located within the airport / air base installation at SLLP,
ranging from chapels for the favorite Virgin Mary to the tail of a C-47
and some preserved aircraft. TAM-16 is one of the few privileged aircraft
preserved for further generations. It’s a Douglas C-47B-15-BK imported
on December 1963 (cn. 15221/26666, former USAF 43-49405) it was
withdrawn from use in 1980 and officially placed as a monument on July
1981, at that time it was painted as "TAM-01".
It’s located to the
left side of the access road to the TAM passenger terminal, a few meters
from the parking lot.
